New State Requirements for Incontinence Supplies Effective October 1
Effective October 1, 2026, the New York State Department of Health (DOH) has revised Medicaid requirements for incontinence supplies. These state-mandated changes simplify quantity limits for products such as diapers, liners, and underpads and introduce new authorization, documentation, and claims payment requirements.
What Providers Need to Know
Beginning October 1, 2026:
A prescription or supply order remains required and must now include the following:
- Quantities that comply with the updated limits for incontinence supplies, including diapers, liners, and underpads.
- Applicable diagnosis codes.
- Supporting documentation, as required by New York State Medicaid.
For complete requirements, quantity limits, authorization instructions, and claims payment information, review the full guidance on the VNS Health Provider Education page.
